I failed to produce 50kg GT on the No Boundaries in Southern Oman. Not even close. I had only one small GT for 6 days fishing.
We are extremely unlucky. When bites were good on the first day, we were in the wrong place. When we went to the hot place on the next day, I landed one small GT and Shin landed 47 kg GT.
For the next a few days, bites were slow everywhere due to calm weather.
It looked GT bites were picking up on April 10 as Shin got 2 out of 4 bites. I wanted to go where good bites were on April 11, our last day. But I was told we couldn't go there because we fished there twice and the other boat was going there. Their policy was to fish one area for one boat.
Guess what. Simon fished there alone got 5 GT including 52 kg out of 8 - 9 bites while we didn't get a single fish.
Stephen from Germany did very well with 11 GT upto 52 kg and he landed at least one GT on every trip on six days and Simon got 10-12 GT which he got on the first day and the last day mostly on the same area.
I realize it is time to quit GT fishing as my physical condition can not take constant casting with heavy lures in hot weather.
Sadly my quest for 50 kg GT end on this trip.
Still, if you want to catch 50 plus kg, this is the place, but there is no guarantee you catch them as we experienced. You need to have some wind and luck.
